Some months ago I stumbled upon Smiling Strong's images...Her story and the images caught me off guard, and left me with a painful remembrance of someone very close to me who had cancer. I hope that everyone who passes through and views these images will read this story..will take a moment to reflect...and will perhaps try on the shoes of someone fighting for life, life with no guarantees, no promises (and certainly winning). After absolutely everything known and familiar has been taken away, if not completely turned upside down, how does one summon up such bravery? I do not know what it is like to have cancer. I do not know what it is like to face that particular fear...But I do know courage in the face of fear, in the face of uncertainty, when I see it. What I learned from Smiling Strong is so simple, but I never knew it in this way until now. cancer (with a small 'c') is about LIFE and no other thing. Here is to LIFE and here is to Living in the Present Moment! Bravo My Friend!
