BACKGROUND:

I studied at SUNY New Paltz and graduated with a teaching degree, minor in Art. As an artist, my media and love has been working with the Polaroid SX-70 camera using manipulation techniques with Time-Zero film. All alterations to the photo are done by hand.

ABOUT POLAROID MANIPULATION TECHNIQUE:

Chemicals between the layers of the film are altered by pressure applied directly on a Polaroid image after it has developed. The photo begins to change with the strokes of the artist.

As with paint or any other medium, each artist using their own style produced a variety of effects. Some techniques created a surreal look, and some a more subtle or impressionistic feel. It has been more than a joy for me to create with this process for many years.

Since I was introduced to this medium in 1994, my works have evolved from simple manipulations to ones that include additional color applied onto the original photo, also prints with color, and compositions using mixed media with parts of the polaroids as graphics or the central theme. There are no computer generated images in my photos.

I hope you enjoy them and are inspired.
