The Camera is my eye

this is a photo website right?

not a literary website

*****************************************************

I want my photography to be HONEST ..,I try 2 do that

I want it to represent LIFE

thats real

but not always common place

but totally everyday

maybe life you dont notice everyday cos it is everyday

but its there this other life..........something different

and diffrent cultures living togther

people that seem normal..but sometimes theres some vibe that u know will show up in a photograh, I want to get that moment..,QUIRKEY possibly hopefully

some people are just a movie totally commonly dull but on film I know they are Bizzare and strange

I try to find it

in the end of it all

were all different but all the same

******************

maybe I think..................,

Sooner or later everyones life will be like a Bob Dylan Song

REALLY THINK ABOUT IT AND LISTEN .., ITS THERE

++++++++++++++++++

the best photos seem accidental..., impulsive and candid u walk into around a corner or look to the left and there it is

catch it

I was given the name "Debbie C.B.'s" one hot summer night on stage at CBGB's by the wonderful and brilliant and MUCH missed LANCE LOUD of THE MUMPS when he pulled me up on stage to sing with him. And the name seemed to have stuck in that world I inhabited then

Lance died a few years ago sadly very ill but Brilliant and loving to the end, so I wear and use the name he gave me with honor in his memory here on Flickr and in the rock world I'm still involved in

,(since I was 11..! though it was around me when I was even younger through family or friends families, one crazy example was I had a best friend in grade school whos brothers hung out and played with JIMI HENDRIX we were little little kids but I remeber him vividly)

I cant run away it follows me, and Im glad, Ive met the best people and have had /have GREAT friends some still on earth some have passed into ROCK AND ROLL HEAVEN ., some lost through time though every once in a while via cyber space and even on FLICKR and old name and face pops up.

I'd like to hope there is a place that is ROCK AND ROLL HEAVEN and Im still on the guest list!

And I know there are more wonderful people I will continue to meet, other fellow artists on earth while were still alive and keep on rocking and that the powers that may be let me do so as well ..please grant me insiration and hope when all is gone and my mojo is dried up like an old mushroom

I still dispise BUSH and his regine they killed AMERICAKA my life reflects it.. Im proud to say my Presidents name is BARACK OBAMA

MY LOVER THE SEA

I am that child with the round, dirty face

who on every corner bothers you with his

"can you spare a quarter?"

I am that child with the dirty face

no doubt unwanted

that from far away contemplates coaches

where other children

emit laughter and jump up and down considerably

I am that unlikeable child

definitely unwanted

with the round dirty face

who before the giant street lights or

under the grandames also illuminated

or in front of the little girls that seem to levitate

projects the insult of his dirty face

I am that angry and lonely child of always,

that throws you the insult of that angry child of always

and warns you:

if hypocritically you pat me on the head

I would take that opportunity to steal your wallet.

I am that child of always

before the panorama of imminent terror,

imminent leprosy, imminent fleas,

of offenses and the imminent crime.

I am that repulsive child that improvises a bed

out of an old cardboard box and waits,

certain that you will accompany me

What do I see when I look at Debbie's photos? Humanity. She photographs an eclectic colorful mix of people and subject matter without prejudice. Her photographs have helped inspire me and reignite the fire for me to get out and shoot and shoot some more. Her photos are mere snippets of reality - she isn't as concerned with slick n' fancy shots as she is with catching and documenting life as she sees it before her eyes and through her lens. Looking through Debbie's photo stream, I feel as if I took a nice long stroll through New York City on a warm Summer day. Thank you Debbie for sharing your photos and your love of photography!

Everyone's entitled to their own tastes in music. I loved the music at CBGB. I love the new pop and rap out today and I'm 60. Maybe it's because I grew up in Motown. I say every style will have something good. You can't close your mind off. Otherwise you'll just become some old grandparent that only does things the way they used to 50yrs ago. I lose a little respect for anyone that closes their mind off to new music coming out. That's not a healthy way to live. Keep moving forward and creative. peace everybody!

Debbie C.B. _ Your Photography is merely a reflection of you, and your life, but most of all a rememberance of the beautiful spirit that you are. You are a sensitive, complex human, honest, laughable, spontaneous, idealistic, sexual, artistic, musical, danceable, wonderful human being.. But you really excel in your comments, your journalism, so candid and refreshing, and laughable. You restore my faith in humanity, and give me the strength and hope and love to keep going when I see so much evil in the world, and you remind me of your wonderful life full of the wonderful people that surround you. You should think hard about preserving your comments in a book. It might knock Howard Sterns' Private Parts off the shelf. ! A best seller for you, and a lasting tribute to a great human being, YOU ! You are a force onto yourself and the World ! Your brother by choice - BOBSEEBOB.....

Debbie's real life images are great slices of urban life, unmediated, often of things that other people might ignore or fail to notice. Her street shots and transit shots are exquisite self-contained stories and a reminder that behind the increasing corporate homogeneity of the world are real people.

Using the camera as her eye, Debbie takes us by our hands and together we walk down the streets of New York City. She is not showing us places we know from the glossy magazines, she shows us her city, her neigbourhood, her life and let us be part of it. I really love her street photography. I never have the impression it's her camera taking these pictures. These pictures are taken with her heart and soul by blinking her eyes - and somehow, I'd die for to know how, she makes these transient and unvoyeuresque moments visible here in flickr. She is a rock'n'roll star with a camera and an unpretentious attitude. Thank you, Deborah!

I first noticed Debbie CB's images... her excellent street work: catching all those fabulous ordinary moments, NYC scenes and expressive gestures; her hilarious, raunchy and outrageous "barbie funnies"; an excellent Chef, her images of her mouthwatering vegan cookery gave me so many good ideas; her images of the NYC music scene done by the insider she has always been gave me a window into a world I had only read about. She is, I have found in flickr watching for some time now: Kind, Considerate, Outspoken and Political, Insightful and sharp eyed, hot and nasty when she wants to be, and someone who suffers no fools gladly but gives of herself generously. Recently, I've learned she's also a walking encyclopedia of what really happened in the East Village New York Rock Scene, a legendary music maven with terrific timing and taste who has rubbed elbows with the music gods, and a mighty fine journalist besides with priceless backstory access... (others talked it, she lived it). Man... what those sweet eyes have seen!! Get her going about ANYTHING and she will knock your socks off. Deb is a flickr treasure and i am honored to be a contact of hers. Rock on, Deb!

No hufferpuff inflated ego here, just a big heart and no holds barred. THEREFORE...if anybody wants to figure out our so-called civilization a millenium hence, let them start with Debbie C.B.'s NYC. Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? She's a Rembrandt, an old master, i.e. has the kind of humble + magnificent vision that rises to the occasion, where nothing is too high or low. She's an artist. Q.E.D.

Debbie C.B.’s Photographs are visual documents of NYC, like the poetry of Walt Whitman, Allen Ginsberg & the tails of the road by Jack Kerouac. Her photographic chronicles take the viewers on a trip across time, to places like CBGB’s, Otto’s, Coney Island. She brings the viewers back from the past to the present, with images of current NYC. She even gives a glimpse into her personal world with intimate photographs of friends & family, these are just more than mere snap shots. Her images are imprints of energy, her energy, as much as the subjects who’s story she’s bringing to the world community. She shows us majesty & beauty, where others might simply see ugliness or a crumbling society. Her photographs transcend the shallow thin veneer, of daily life that most eyes are accustomed to seeing. These are a living document forever preserved on film, like the photographers Paul Rosenfeld & Stieglitz here photographs are documents of place… that reaffirm life in all it’s infinite frequencies.
