Originally from Sanderson, Texas and Dallas, Texas, I studied art and photography at the University of North Texas. While living in Fayetteville, Arkansas (1997-2001) I began working in photo labs, which allowed me the opportunity to experiment with old cameras and develop my own film. I moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2001 and became a photo lab manager.
In 2003, I photographed the abandoned (now demolished) Dixmont State Hospital near Pittsburgh, built in 1862, one of the first asylums in the United States. This experience intensified my lifelong fascination with historic buildings and my desire to use photography as an act of documentation and preservation.
I'm currently based in Louisville, Kentucky, home to the largest historic preservation district featuring Victorian homes and buildings in the United States.
I have been shooting for Airbnb since 2012 and I started my own photography business in 2017.
