While I have always enjoyed photography, it wasn't until late 2005 that the passion was ignited and grew like a bonfire. I bought my Contax AX 35mm film camera and took a class at Art Center College of Design. Taking that knowledge and those lessons learned, along with shooting seemingly non-stop, I was quickly able to remove the training wheels and see things that once faded into the background. Soon after I was asked to venture to various music video sets and shoot photos for inclusion in the book MAKING MUSIC VIDEOS by Lara M. Schwartz. And thus, my professional career began. The book was published by Billboard Books in August 2007.

In June and July of 2010, I, Dean MacKay slept on 50 different couches in 50 consecutive nights and documented the whole thing. While I'm in the midst of finishing a book of the work captured then, you can follow along here.

I've also photographed a number of weddings, as well as other events and performances.

I shoot nearly every day, capturing the animals that I pet sit and the environments that I encounters.

Look for work from all of these things, for sale online and in galleries, coming soon.

In the meantime, If you see any that you like, and want prints, let me know. If you want to use any of them for any reason, get in touch. And of course, if you find yourself in need of photographer, please keep me in mind.
