How to describe my work. I guess the best way to explain my approach to photography is that I consider the actual photograph as the first step. Sometimes I am happy with original photo and make no adjustments. Typically, however, I like to alter the photograph in Photoshop to create something that is between a photograph and a painting. My goal is to create art and I am not concerned with the photojournalistic argument that a photograph should just capture what was occurring when the shutter clicked. We were all taught as children to stay in the lines when we colored a picture with our crayons. As I write this he hasn't posted a single picture yet, but I'll be damned if the absence of imagery isn't brilliant. I wish I thought of it! I could have saved loads on film and art supplies. 2/13/08 UPDATE! Well, he went and did it - posted some images which leave me with mixed emotions. Those being envy, joy and disgust. However no lust. Nothing that stirs the loins. Except a guy walking through a giant paper mache vagina. That's it. (Not to short shrift a giant vagina, but hey, let's face it that's a bit more frightening than it is alluring.) Peruse this photo steam and you'll discover some meticulously crafted images by a fellow who really, genuinely cares about his work. I can only hope that he will post more and more - exploring every facet and subject matter known to man, so that he can finally come full circle and return to the giant paper mache vagina that inspired a nation.
