Facing retirement and in search of something to make a special connection with my grandchildren, a friend introduced to me to sugar cookies. I was always amazed with the creations she made to celebrate holidays and special events, which were truly personal gifts from the heart. To my surprise, as a retirement gift, she gave me an assortment of decorating tools, books, and recipes to get me started. As hard as I try, I still have gaps in my piping and less than perfect detailing, but the little ones are kind enough not to notice.
