Photography to me is an ART.

Update: May 2014

 

It has been around 5 months now since I came back to Photography. Last time I was doing photography was in college, Photography Class. I used my aunt's Minolta SRT 100x back then.

 

I have been using the Nikon D3200, a gift, since late December 2013. I have learned a lot about digital photography since then.

 

I encountered a Ukrainian who was selling vintage Soviet lenses a few months back. My first purchase from him was a Helios 44-2 58mm f2. I bought that for the swirly bokeh. And that is when I really got into vintage lenses. First, they are comparatively cheaper. Second, since they are kind of old, they have different quirks. They are not perfect lenses, and that is what I like about them. All the distortions they make to the pictures add character. After my first purchase, I got a Volna-9 50mm f2.8 macro lens and a Jupiter 37A 135mm f3.5 from the same seller. I also recently bought a Super-Takumar f1.4. I have been wanting to get this lens for some months now because of its wide aperture. I like shallow DOF and don't really like using flash even in low light situations.

 

And since I had vintage lenses, I decided to go back to film photography. I got a used Zenit 122 with a Helios 44-6 and a Pentax Spotmatic (which I bought because of the Super-Takumar lens) I also inherited from my aunt a Minolta SRT 100x and a Japanese Hacoflex TLR. I also have a Holga, just for the fun of it.

 

Update: June 2014

 

Last month I got a vintage Yashica TL Electro-X from my aunt. Unfortunately, its film winder was broken. Fortunately, it was M42 mount. I was able to salvage the Yashinon-DX 50/1.4 lens and use it on my D3200.
