I seek to try and capture the extraordinary details of the mundane world in photography.

I have many years of schooling in fine art (4 years at the college level) that help me select subjects and lighting and compose my shots, but most of all I am constantly looking at the world around me and discovering what an amazing place it really is. I hope my photgraphy reflects that.

My first formal photography instruction was in Racine, WI in Junior High School through High School under David Drewek, a locally renowned artist known for his paintings in acrylic and his fine hand-blown glass. I continued my formal art training in college at University of Wisconsin Parkside, but changed majors after four years of schooling because my parents discouraged me from pursuing art as a carreer -- it wasn't "practical". Right now I'm considering finishing my BFA at Univeristy of Wisconsin in Madison if I can get enough financial aid and can get into the program.

I am also enrolled at MATC in Madison to pursue another goal of mine - to become a certified Veterinary Technician. I grew up in a veterinary household and helping animals is another great passion of mine.

I've owned many cameras but after many generations of point-and-shoots (mostly crappy 35mm cameras I got as gifts) I always lusted for an SLR after using them in Junior High and High School. It wasn't until last year, 2006, when my boyfriend and I were finally able to put away our Sony Cybershot for a used Canon 20D DSLR we bought used on eBay. Oh, the joy!

I shoot with a variety of lenses but primarily the Canon 28-135mm USM with Image Stabilizer. I post the EXIF data on all my photos so if you want to know the specs of how I shot a picture and which lens I used, just take a peek! My next goal is to learn the art of Strobism (on and/or off-camera flash lighting).

Enjoy my pictures... and please LEAVE COMMENTS! The only way to learn is from trial and error, hard work, and from constructive criticism.
