-Graduate of West Virginia University's Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism and former staff photographer at WVU's student newspaper, The Daily Athenaeum.
-Currently a freelance newspaper photographer contributing primarily to the Charleston Daily Mail (West Virginia). I shoot just about anything including a ton of local sports, but plenty of feature and general news assignments as well.
-As far as my own thing goes, I shoot just about anything. I wouldn't consider myself an art photographer by any means, but I seem to naturally get alternative every now and then. Most of this page, about 3/4 of it, I'd say is personal stuff. Only my favorite work shots appear here, but soon I'll have a set devoted to it.
-I do all my own printing, which is pretty basic but effective and of high quality. Everything seen in my stream is available for sale as a print on 8 1/2 by 11 with a white relief (photo sized to 10 inches tall or wide) for $15 each. Drop me a message if interested.
-I stress composition as a photographer, and I'm not afraid to get close or lie on the ground for an interesting perspective. It's my philosophy that good composition and handiness with lesser equipment resources are things that will always prevail over simply having top gear. I shoot a ton on everything I work on, which I feel is important for any photographer to do in any genre.
-I expose manually 98% of the time. The only times I'll use priorities is when I'm shooting sports and I'm dealing with an outdoor field that is half shade and half sun. I wear contacts and don't have great eyes in general, and for this reason I autofocus 90% of the time (digital), especially when working.
-I shoot with Canon equipment. The current body lineup includes a 30D, a 40D and a 5D Mk.II. Also, I own an old full manual Pentax K1000 35mm that I shoot black & white 400 speed film with, just for fun and to stick to the roots, as I learned to shoot on an old Nikon FM full manual 35mm.
