David Townsend lives in Thailand -- a refugee from the cold, wet northern climes. Born in Singapore, he has lived many years in Thailand, Malaysia, England and the USA. He has been privileged to travel to many beautiful and interesting countries.
His love of photography started aged eight, with the gift of a Kodak Instamatic camera, and progressed via a Russian-built Zenit EM 35mm camera, to the current kit bag of film and digital Fujifilm, Nikon, Canon, Contax, and an inherited Leica rangefinder.
Photography helped pay his way to overseas travel during university, and was followed by several years as a professional travel photographer working on assignment for a variety of publishers, as well as brands including British Airways, Singapore Airlines, and The Leading Hotels of the World.
His photos have been published in over 100 books, as well as brochures, magazines, postcards, posters, exhibition stands, calendars and gift items.
Understanding that there needs to be more to life than money and achievement, he finished his second career as a software executive in the USA, and now spends his time working for a non-profit foundation in Asia, as well as pursuing his passion for photography -- just for the sheer love of it.
We live in an extraordinarily beautiful and colorful world, filled with diverse and unique people. David endeavors to make his photography reflect this.
