David Olivari was born in 1972 in the south from France.
he got a scientific computing master in 1995, he worked as software engineer in the field of the statistics, the agriculture and more recently in the field of interactive television.
Sometimes this last job make him develop and test some "artistic" uses of the video library.
The lights festival "Faites de la Lumière 2003" is the opportunity to finalize and presenting an interactive device: "Tout le monde danse".
Amateur dancer, he starts, in the beginning of 2004, the art group "Matière Première" which organizes training courses of dance and contact improvisation. Association sets up the semi-monthly jams, these space times of improvisation practice.
Contacted by students from the Montpellier "Beaux Arts" School, he developped 2 interactive installations presented for the diploma : "Olive aux réveil" and "L'oeil".
During the summer 2004, he directed out a short dance video "Grande Rue 10:39pm" screened during Dance One Screen 2004 festival at The Place in London.
David takes part in 2004 in several performance related to dance improvisation in urban space.
In October 2004, David meets on internet Donald Abad a parisian student artist which seeks someone to develop an interactive video installation "De L'effort". The interactive device is presented for 15 days during the inauguration of the new buildings of the French Applied Art School (ENSAD).
David works on a videodance with Mathilde Duclaux : "Pylone" about the relationship between the body and architecture and takes part in the shooting ans editing of a documentary around a dance piece by Audrey Perin-Vindt.
Since January 2005, David takes and produces photos and/or videos for several companies of dance and theater: Groupe Noces, Yann Lheureux, François Rascalou, Florence Saul, Les Boucans, Pulx, Amanda Pina but also for cultural events. His contact improvisation practice gives him a specific glance to the body in motion, an unique esthetics and a unique relationship in the image shooting process.
David, on the same time, keep on collaborating with artists or structures related to the contemporary art : Pierre Bellemin, Aperto, Reserve. In this fields, he use his computerized multimedia skill. He cooperate as technology consultant for a performance group : projectsinge, develop for them a work in progress framework around realtime video installation : observation/automation installation and an interactive art piece around genetic algorithms.
His personal creations "Tryptic de Filles" and "GyroVideoprojecteur" were presented during the"Faites de Lumière 2005". For the european night of the museums 2005, he proposes a light and video set for Fabre museum.
During the summer 2005, David Olivari collaborated with the choreographer Florence Bernad for a local art festival "Montpellier Quartiers Libres 2005". 8 dancers in an apartment improvised in a private apartment. Witness of this research time, he produced "Coco, solo pour un homme heureux" a slides series presented on suspended screens in the street and short dancevideo on television sets in the windows.
He currently works with Karl Paquemar on a dance and video performance "Combat de Gueules" around confrontation. He affirms in this piece his role as creator of scenic and visual device.
David Olivari lives and works in Montpellier but regularly moves regularly around Europe. His web site www.david-o.net proposes a lot of photo set and video under Creative Commons licence.
All his work is produced and developped with GNU/Linux OS and open source software only.
