I have lived in NYC for 20 years and was born in Nottingham, UK. Formerly a Materials Scientist, Street Performer, Circus Artist and Exercise Trainer. I began photography in 2016 and my interests lie in the discovery of original ways to represent architecture, nature and people, primarily through the use of everyday reflective surfaces, shadows, silhouettes and simple geometry. I enjoy finding the art out in the world. A friend once told me that whatever artistic endeavors you may have the main thing is not to be boring, an idea I try to keep in the back of my mind.

David Smith is a common and unnoteworthy name but a rare and exceptionlal photographic talent.I’ve been following him for so long now on both National Geographic Your Shot and here on flickr that he probably identifies me as being his stalker. David has the exceptional ability to discover abstract reflections wherever he goes whether they’re in lakes, puddles, fountains, awnings, polished floors, chrome surfaces, a car's bodywork or the windows of skyscrapers. Each of his shots is expertly composed and framed with a remarkable precision seldom seen in the work of an amateur photographer. However, if you spend some time contemplating the work in his gallery, you’ll discover that he’s no one-trick pony and that there are also many great examples of architectural, landscape, street, and wildlife photography. Apart from his photographic skills, David has shown a generosity of spirit, whenever he has set an assignment, that contributors find both considerate and stimulating.

What an amazing artist! I discovered David's work through a recent image that was selected by Explore... the thumbnail instantly caught my eye ... as I was travelling through David's Photostream, I realized that this image was not an accident. David has an eye for captivating images... Reading the article written by Stephanie Kay-Kok in The Photo Argus about David's work made me realized how much more powerful that I even thought his images and his whole photostream are. A real visual treat to visit his gallery! An inspiration to go out, to observe our surroundings and persistently remain vigilant as masterpiece most of the times knocks very softly. Outstanding portfolio!!! I am so glad that Explore made that choice, it makes Flickr a better place to spend time. Bravo David !

David's gallery is full of amazingly creative shots that draw me in every time. He has a wonderful eye for capturing the ordinary in an extraordinary way. His reflection shots are really inspirational. When he ran a recent 'in house' assignment on 'Transitions' for former members of the National Geographic Your Shot Alumni Group he was very generous with his time, giving great feedback, critique and encouragement to every member who took part. The resultant gallery can be found here www.flickr.com/photos/david... I was interested to hear about his former life and read the wonderful article in the Photo Argus, what a creative you are David!
