I'm a retired software engineer / engineering manager based in Hertfordshire, England, UK.

I started taking pictures on a Woolworth's camera in the early 1960s when I was around seven years old, eventually upgrading to a Kodak Brownie 127, followed by a Kodak Instamatic. My first SLR was a Pentax Me Super (1981), but since the mid 1990s I've used Canon and Sony equipment.

I used to have a wet B&W darkroom and enjoyed experimenting with hand-colouring prints, but since the late '90s have moved to digital imaging.

I try to capture the seasons - especially spring - and am a regular visitor to North East England, particularly the Northumbrian coast. Having worked for a Japanese company, I very much enjoy learning about the Japanese language, country and culture. My last visit was in 2017, but intend to travel there again.

(By the way, the 'BBCS' suffix has no significance outside of my family.)
