Hi All

I have been taking photographs for over thirty years shooting in all formats from 35mm to 12x20 inch! Like everyone else I have also dabbled with digital. I am currently working to re-establish my traditional darkroom to print from film negatives on to photographic paper. I also print from enlarged (digital) negatives in a range of 'alternative' processes, including; Palladium, Cyanotype, Carbon Transfer and Wet Plate Collodion. I am also working towards printing in Photogravure - look out for more info about that.

I have recently completed an MFA in Photography at Ulster University for which I achieved a Distinction!. I primarily work in black and white (though occasionally shoot colour digitally - it is possible that I will shoot colour film and print that to traditional colour photographic paper in the future). I photographic in a range of methods from UV and IR to pinhole photography but mostly shoot in medium and large format.

I shoot landscapes, for which I pprefer to shoot the 'grand vista' as well as people photography such as Portraiture and the male nude (none of the latter here, you can see that work at my blog davejsmithphoto.wixsite.com/malenudes).

I use my images to make handmade books or prints and these will be available to purchase as limited editions in the near future. I will also be offering a wide range of workshops and courses for those interested in the following
