Photography is my excuse for adventure. It’s a way to make art that’s based in real life. I try to capture the quiet, introspective moments that often go unnoticed. Through the camera lens, I see the beauty in the ordinary and reflect on the stories that unfold in everyday settings - including travel, my family, or my hometown.
I write about creativity and post photos on my blog.
My setup: Canon, with mainly EF lenses, and a Canon EOS M for travel and street photos. I do some film photography, too, using a Canonet rangefinder and a Canon AE-1.
I enjoy the work of Saul Leiter, William Eggleston, Stephen Shore, and Thomas Hawk here on Flickr. Hawk's output is inspiring. I tend to like photographers who capture people well.
My favorite things to photograph: Community portraits, abandoned buildings, nature, urban landscapes, and my home state of Michigan.
I'm available for hire.
