Dave Knapik is a Tokyo-based photographer whose work primarily focuses on solitary fragments of urban melancholia. His passion for photography grew most during the years he spent under the rarely-breaking cloud cover of London, England. Unable to take the sun for granted, he learned an appreciation for light, shadow and shades of grey against a landscape of council houses, betting parlors and kebab shops. A lifelong city dweller fascinated by the subtle sadness found between the cracks in the pavement, his work is imbued with a sincere love for the more unlovable aspects of everyday urban life.
