Graphic designer and photographer based in the South of England.

This is my non-railway Flickr account and covers my various interests and a wide range of themes, genres and subjects.

My railway photograph, covering the UK from 1986 onwards, Switzerland and my father's extensive steam and diesel collection, can be found here: www.flickr.com/photos/davekirwinphotography/

Started photography when I got my first camera - a Pentax P30 - around 1986 when I started earning a wage, working for the railway.

Learned all I could about 35mm photograph by trial and experiment - expensive learning route considering the cost of processing and film in those days! A Pentax MX50 (35mm) arrived in 2001 and that was then replaced by my first digital in 2006, a Fuji Finepix 9500. Dissatisfied with its abilities, I bought a Canon 400d the following year. This soldiered on until 2014 when I went full frame with a Canon 5D mkiii and finally I went mirrorless in 2022 with a Canon EOS R6.

I have been lucky enough to be published in print for various book, magazines and internal communications including Bachmann and GBRf.
