My name is David Madsen, I am 34 years old.

I live in Canberra, ACT, Australia.

I have been an on and off keen photographer for 15 years. My first SLR experience was with my old man's Nikon FE and REALLY heavy 35-105mm Nikkor zoom - what a heavy lump it was ! During my final years of high school I took up photography as a 1 unit subject just for interest. That was really interesting working with black and white 35mm film and processing prints in the dark room.

My first digital camera purchase was in 2001 when I bought the Olympus CAMEDIA C-40ZOOM from Tokyo, Japan. This had increadibly slow startup, zoom and focus speeds but it was compact, produced great colour and contrast (for the time). Can you believe this sucker used Smart Media cards - cant buy those anymore. Since then, I have acquired a Canon 300D and Canon Ixus 850is. And more recently, Canon G12 & 5D Mark II.

I have never really been passionate about photography, just interested. But lately, the photographer within has been coming alive, firing up a renewed interest in it. This has been largely driven by Flickr ! I love this site and all the amazing images uploaded by everyone. Thank you all.
