I began taking pictures in 1972, just after moving to Fairbanks, Alaska. I began formal study of photography during my first year of high school, and continued at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and the University of Hawaii. I received a BA in photojournalism with a minor in geoscience from UAF, and interned with the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.
