My name is David Fotheringham – I’m an experienced journalist and corporate communications consultant with a lifelong interest in wildlife and the environment.

I have worked at senior level at some of Scotland’s top national newspapers.

I am also a director of Lauder Stewart Communications Ltd, who deliver stakeholder communications and environmental reporting for a wide portfolio of international businesses.

In 2009, I formed my own company, Blue Leaf Nature, to help my corporate clients improve their understanding of biodiversity on their landholdings and the way they manage and report biodiversity issues.

A former editor of the award-winning Fife Bird Report (1997-2000), I am a well-known Scottish birder with many years of fieldwork experience.

My other specific wildlife interests include moths, butterflies and dipterans, especially hoverflies. All my records are submitted to local biodiversity centres and national recording schemes.

In September 2012. I started my MSc in Countryside Management at the SRUC to formalise my knowledge and experience.

My other love is photography – and I am pleased to have won a number of awards and have my images appear in many books and magazines.

Through my flickr pages, I hope I can share my enthusiasm for the natural world with you.
