Things I like to photograph: Buildings, signs, typography, and other stuff from roughly the 1920s to the 1960s or so--encompassing the eras and sensibilities of Art Deco, Streamline Moderne, the International Style, Mid-Century Modern, etc.

I love old things that are well-preserved, and old things that have been affected--enriched, even--by the natural effects of time: fading, rusting, corroding, flaking off, going out of style!

I also like taking close-up shots of machinery, stamped-metal labels, and other old stuff that was obviously mass-produced yet not anything I've seen before--in other words, manufactured endangered species.

And I'm kind of shy about asking, but I do like taking pictures of people. I think everybody should have a photo of themselves in a place they like to be, wearing something they think they look good in, and feeling that they're representing what they're all about. Everyone should have their own "album cover" or "about the author" photo! (cough)or pinup(cough)
