Mid-fifties, semi-retired due to major illness, Melanoma, still working part time as a writer/journalist/editor, (and currently a home renovator) many hobbies, photography and sailing the two most enduring. Started out in life in the Navy in electronics, moved to television broadcasting in the late seventies, then to print media. I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia, have a lovely, caring and very intelligent wife and five gorgeous daughters. I do a lot of street photography, portrait work, lifestyle detail (farming, cruising yachts, older people etc.) I live on waterfront and like to kayak, windsurf and sail a catamaran. Very interested (lifelong) in health and fitness, plus permaculture. I have one large dog and am on the staff of one cat. I don't make most of my Flickr stuff public, too many weird people out there and too many pretty females in my family - but I do make some things public on occasion to illustrate discussion threads or if specifically asked. As well as permanent access to Nikon DSLRs I have several film bodies and both A100 & A700 Sonys, plus HVL-F58AM&42AM for portable use plus a fully set-up studio with strobes, umbrellas, softboxes screens, most accessories. I am very happy with the Sony DSLRs, have no noise issues they seem to be mostly associated with poor quality glass and technique. I own a huge collection of old Minolta glass & I use Photoshop and inDesign in my professional life so am quite familiar with Adobe products.
