Retired electrical engineer, spending time doing some of the things that a career got in the way of.

Photography has been a serious part of my life since I took a photography course in 1971, in order to escape the mind boggling boredom of the typical required humanities courses. This was black and white, from taking the picture through film and print development. Stuck with that until a full time career and family life made the time commitment too onerous.

When digital cameras dropped to a reasonable price, we went through a few preliminary cameras. I finally bought an Olympus E500, which has done me well for many years. Now retired, I'm still using the E500, but doing a LOT more shooting.

This Flickr account WAS an experiment in sharing my photos. I tried "the other guys", but the "intuitive" GUI was just too brain dead.

With the 20-May-2013 gutting of flickr, I am looking for an alternative web site on which to share photos. I developed a simple narration style with the old flickr that I like and without that, there is no reason to put up with the shoddy manner in which flickr has treated me and other serious photographers.

I run a Linux computer shop and generally do any post-processing using Gimp.
