“The marvels of daily life are exciting; no movie director can arrange the unexpected that you find in the street.” - Robert Doisneau

I'm Danny, and I like to shoot strangers in the streets of Singapore.

Why do I shoot street?

For me, nothing beats getting that really good shot within an uncontrolled, unpredictable environment that the street is. It's like a drug... the more good shots you get, the more you want to shoot. And knowing that the streets offer so much for photography just makes it so appealing.

Yes its true that you can wander for 4 hours without ever getting a decent shot... but just the same, you can get your 5 best shots of your lifetime within half an hour.

My street photography heroes:

- Garry Winogrand

- William Klein

- Daido Moriyama

- Philip-Lorca DiCorcia

- Ray K. Metzker

- Trent Parke

- Fan Ho

After a little over a year of shooting strangers in Orchard Road, I've finally put up my photography blog that contains some of my favorite shots, as well as articles about my experiences in shooting street. Please do have a quick peek: www.dannyst.com

What can i say about this guy. Humble, soft spoken and most of all, extremely discipline. It was nice working and still/will be working with you in days to come. I'm sure will hear more good things about you!

Danny is one of my favourite photographers on flickr. His streetphotos are simply phenomenal. Although I have never met him and seen him in action, I would imagine he would stand still in the middle a flow of crowd on the Orchard Street, spot where the light source is and then wait for his prey (which I must add, 95% of the prey were all attractive girls) to fall into his trap. Danny has his own style and his pictures can be easily recognisable. It would be no surprise to me if there will be a style of street photography named "Danny-esque streetphotos" in the future.

I don't personally know Danny but the photos he take are amazing, poetic, mood-sy - they tell stories. We always see alot of good photos on flickr - good composition, perfect framing, correct white balance, etc. But we rarely see great photos. Photos that encompass the technicalities and qualities to make it good but with that certain something that makes them stand out and special. Danny's work is one of those and more.

For a person who has been taking photos for such a short time, you really impress me! I can really see the help of the background on gfx design, because you sure know how to handle the post-processing, but without over-doing it.
