About me;
I thought it was time to update my profile.
It has been a bumpy ride for me and Flickr/photography. I would say that I have only participated in both for about 10% since registering 2 years ago, which has been disappointing for me. I would mostly lay the blame at lack of time and pre-occupation but sometimes I just wasn’t up to it. Anyway, I’ve started again and realised how much I enjoy the participation, so hopefully I can stick around this year.
I am still what you would class as new to photography and even although I’ve always been interested in the arts, I was a little surprised and late to be starting photography. But I’m still young and I hope it is the start of a lifelong passion. What you will see here is mostly pictures of Walt Disney World. This is a subject that I enjoy very much but it is also a case of “when you get lemons, you make lemonade” as it is about the only subject I get the time to focus on (because I’m on vacation, obviously). I would love to do a larger variety, in particular candid and urban but that will have to wait for now.
Flickr to me is two-fold as it is a means for me to share my creations but also for others to share with me. I like looking at other peoples work very much and I can guarantee that when I comment it is only because it has provoked me in some way or another. I like commenting but I try not to be critical as I don’t feel I’m in a position to be dishing out advice yet. Generally when I add a contact it is because I look forward to seeing their fresh pictures on a regular basis. I will not just automatically add someone as a contact if I don’t think I will be interested in their work (please don’t be offended though, it’s maybe just not to my taste). I will also remove any contacts who ‘pollute’ their photostream daily as I can’t be bothered going through a bunch of snaps to get to my other contacts pictures, although this scenario is very rare here. I also dislike it when some people effectively spam a photostream just to promote themselves. And yes, I am eager for others to look at my photostream and I welcome their comments and critique but I’m not into getting commented on just for the sake of it. I like comments but there is no obligation if my pictures do not evoke any thoughts to you (even if I give you the most glowing praise, lol).
Overall, I try to have humour in my approach, which is hard on a computer. I also like to offer more than a ‘great shot’ comment, I like to actually say what I think and keep my comments interesting or useful if you get me. And I just try to be polite in general.
My kit has grown a little;
Sony Alpha 200 (this means someone can always give me the gift of an upgrade camera, lol. But I seriously like the camera!)
SAL 18-55mm standard
SAL 11-18mm wide (twice the price of the camera, there is irony)
SAL 50F18 SAM 50mm
SAL 75-300mm tele
Macro lens (never use this, I’d like to learn how to use it better though)
Lowepro 102AW (smashing wee bag)
Remote
Zeiss ND filter
I hope you like my pictures - thanks for looking!
