Hi all, I'm new to photography and I'm amazed at how adictive it's becoming. I use a Nikon D3100 with kit lens which I've stolen from my sister and have recently purchased a 50mm f/1.8D.

I do a PhD in optics which hopefully means I understand a bit about how the camera works but unfortunately counts for squat when it comes to inspiration. Other than that rock climbing, mountaineering and backpacking are my life.
