There are lots of people who are trained and educated to be good photographers, and there are those that have the gift of 'seeing' that allows their work to capture beauty - Damgaard has that gift. His passion is obvious in his images and his eagerness to learn and improve his technical skills is admirable. You can see how the quality of his work has gone beyond just "seeing" the moment, into having the skill to actually capture it! Thomas is a great photographer. He has "the vision" , "the technical knowledge" and "the passion" which are in my opinion the three main characteristics of a good photographer. Another fascinating fact about Thomas is his photographic evolution. Please take a moment and look at his attractive photo-stream chronologically and you will immediately notice that he is progressing. And this is the most amazing part of his photographic style. I first came across Thomas' work when he kindly invited me to join the group "Mondo Bizarro". That alone should tell you about the sometimes whimsical approach he can take to photography. But the man offers so much more than that in his work...work which I feel can be best summed up as enthusiastic honesty. From the touching simplicity of a candle on his son's birthday cake, to the fine art professionalism of "Astro Orbiter" or "Yellow Door/Blue Door", Thomas does not pretend to be anything other than himself. He photographs what moves him, and is generous in his approach to the work of his contacts. Anyone who can capture a glorious sunset over the University of Tampa and make it look like dawn over Istanbul has got to be doing something right!
