The word "photography" comes from two Greek words which, when put together, translate to "writing with light".

Looking back, I've always been interested in some form of documenting the world around me. I've been a writer since I could hold a pencil, and during a brief period in my teen years, I had a mini cassette recorder practically fused to my hand. I always wanted a camera of my own, but for one reason or another, it was always being put off. When I was 18, I bought my first very first camera, a Kodak Cameo 35mm. A little over a year later, my boyfriend (now husband), bought me my first SLR, a Canon Rebel G. My introduction to digital was through the HP Photosmart C935. I've gone through a few more cameras since then (and even collect the odd one here and there), but the model I now shoot with most often is the Canon EOS 7D.

I'm currently enrolled in the New York Institute of Photography, and am really enjoying learning the ins and outs of photographic technique. My main interests are macro photography and candid portraiture.

There have been a few inquiries regarding the names I choose for my shots. My only explanation is that music plays a very important role in my life, and I often have my Mp3 player on-hand when I'm out shooting. Therefore, rather than choosing the standard, boring mode of naming my photos (i.e. "Sunset over Porter Dr." *snore*), I decided to tie them irrevocably to the music they remind me of.
