I was born and grew up in Iowa, in the Central United States. I am currently in graduate school in Central Illinois.

I have enjoyed photography for a long time, but I have never managed to find time to develop any skill.

Recent Cameras

After graduating from high school, I bought a film SLR. I used that for a number of years, but after taking it backpacking a couple times, I realized something smaller would be nice. Also, I found that I would not take snapshots with it, so I took few pictures of any friends during its tenure.

The camera I found to address both of these issues was the Sony DSC-V1. I like this camera, but the decreased ability to control everything conveniently eventually wore me down, so now I have a digital SLR, as well. I suppose it makes me fickle since I bought the Sony to be smaller, but its small size was a significant factor in wanting another camera.

At the time of this writing, I have only had the Canon Rebel XT for a short time. I like it quite a lot so far. I had wanted to aim higher, but the graduate student lifestyle is not as opulent as you may have heard. I do not regret starting with the Rebel XT body. However, I would prefer having a viewing screen more suited for manual focus.
