I'm an American scientist living in New Zealand. I've had a lifelong interest in natural history, and particularly enjoy entomology and invertebrate zoology. My formal training is in ornithology, and I spent a substantial amount of time in Mexico studying the landscape ecology of tropical dry forest birds. Somehow, I've managed to end up on the bottom of the planet as a marine biologist.

As for photography, my wife (the lovely SMG) is the one with the eye and the talent -- many of the pics here are hers.
