Over the years in my work as a graphic designer... I've art-directed a lot of photographers on a lot of photo shoots. Photography had always been a part of my creative experience... although not personally from behind the camera as a shooter.

All that changed beginning in the fall of 2004... when I got ahold of a decent digital point-and-shoot... then took a better camera with me on a two-week trip to Germany in the fall of 2005... and realized the passion I previously never knew I had for shooting! In December, 2005, I took a deep breath... bought my first DSLR (Nikon D200, and recently a Nikon D500) and lens (Nikkor 17-55 2.8). I was WAY in over my head! But I read the manuals... looked at a LOT of photo info online... and began to take the camera everywhere. And I've been on an exciting, at times frustrating, rewarding, thoroughly humbling and yet completely satisfying journey of discovery ever since!

My Flickr experience has sharpened the commitment to develop my technical and creative skills... as well as been a constant source of inspiration and at times... amusement. Thank you all... for doing what you do. And thanks for letting me do the same.

What I'm shooting with so far:

– Nikon D500

– AF-S Nikkor 17-55mm 2.8 G ED

– AF-S Micro Nikkor 105mm 2.8 G ED

– AF Nikkor 50mm 1.4 D

– iPhone 6s Plus (and a host of camera and processing apps)

– Unbridled enthusiasm!

Wishful thinking:

– Maybe a 70-200... maybe even somewhat longer... and reasonably fast!

– Definitely a wide prime (or maybe with a touch of zoom)... definitely fast!

– Something that tilts... and shifts... ;)

– Rounding out the basic studio lighting set I use when needed.

– To travel and shoot under the watchful eye of David duChemin... =)

A quick moment of your time: September 8 (2008) is the day my photostream topped 1,000 views... with almost 6,400 individual image views. I know that is peanuts for some of you. =) You know who you are... and you deserve it! But in this first 6 months of my Flickr experience... I find that to be both amazing... and quite humbling. Unless of course, it is only 2 or 3 of you cranking away at the view counts (in which case... thanks for that, too!)...

September 8 is also my birthday. 1,000 / 6,400 Nice present... thanks, all!

And then on November 29, 2008... 3,500+ / 15,500+ I am amazed!

May 1, 2009... 7,000+ / 30,300+

Almost Christmas, 2009... 11,000+ / 50,000+

Valentines Day, 2011... almost 18,000 / 100,000+

[edit]

Fast forward to mid-June, 2018... 1,000,000 views is on the horizon...

Still shooting (although not nearly as regularly as I wish to), still learning, still posting, still eager for more!
