To that end, I go for drop bars, disc brakes, and fat tires. Whether you call them commuters, cyclocross bikes, monster cross bikes, or drop-bar 29ers makes no difference. There aren't very many options. Dailybreadcycles has some of the coolest examples I've seen -- bikes that look as anxious to get outside as a puppy, as sanguine about an ominous sky, and as boundlessly enthusiastic about the twisting way ahead.
