When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
A professional dilettante.
42 years old
I moved to Seattle in 1987 to attend Cornish. As a dilettante, I've seen and been part of lots of interesting shit in Seattle and have stories/scars to show for it:
*Being around for the OK Hotel days when you would be sitting at the bar talking with someone about nothing, only later to see him on MTV. I still see some around town - still the same guys. Their time as rockstars didn't fuck them up too much.
*Seeing Nirvana play the Vogue on a Wednesday night. They sucked so bad, I left after the third song convinced they weren't going anywhere.
*Drinking at the Frontier Room, with Nina pouring, then walking to the Vogue for Fetish Night.
*Playing in the backroom at the Catwalk dressed in some form of stretchy tupperware.
*Kinky Couples at the Manor/Beyond the Edge Cafe/Bizzare-Bazzar at the Fenix/The Wet Spot
*Producing Channel 666, an experimental/industrial/gothic music video show, on public access and working with Paul Aleinikoff to simulcast on C89's "On the Edge".
*Being called a freak at Burningman.
*Chasing the moon to Vantage with a good friend to get the perfect shot.
*Representing a good painter in the dismal Seattle Art scene.
*Producing a fabulous fashion show combining art and local fashion.
*Producing a comeback show of a prominent painter of the NW School.
*So much more...
So much great stuff. I have ever greater stuff happening now with Ms. Dadachamp and I hope for more.
