The Danish Committee for Aid to Afghan Refugees (DACAAR) is a non-governmental, non-profit, apolitical humanitarian organisation which has been working side by side with the Afghan people for the last 25 years. Our vision is an Afghanistan where all Afghans, both male and female, are able to effectively and sustainably manage local resources, improve their own quality of life and withstand periods of calamity and stress.

Our approach: All our activities are based on the meaningful participation of all our beneficiaries. In addition to their active involvement in every stage of the decision making process, local communities are offered training in project maintenance to guarantee the long-term viability and sustainability of our projects.

Our main beneficiaries: DACAAR’s activities are pro-poor in the sense that they primarily target some of Afghanistan’s most vulnerable rural communities, including internally displaced people, refugees, landless labourers and female-headed households.
