A 'Brummie' by birth, I spent 30 years in the Midlands before being moved to Derby, Lincolnshire and finally Cambridgeshire by my employers.

I have loved railways for as long as I can remember, although heavily biased towards the Western Region of BR. From trainspotting days I graduated to photography and owned my first 35mm camera in 1968 just in time for the end of steam. I then moved on in 1971 to SLR models fuelled by the elimination of diesel hydraulics.

I was dragged, kicking and screaming, into the digital age in 2007, but quickly felt very comfortable with this medium.

At 72 years of age my love for the hobby is undiminished and being retired, I like nothing better than a few hours at a quiet spot by the lineside (as long as the sun is shining!).
