There is not enough space or time to say all that I could about Mat, so on this his birthday, I'll simply state that he is one of the most gifted and driven artists that I have met. Nothing is as simple as it may appear, nothing as basic as just an image, nothing as mundane as a captured scene, but rather a whole tale of thought, emotion, judgment, skill, and empathy. You can view one of Mat's photographs and say "wow, thats pretty" or better yet, sit with it and let it work it's way into your heart... giving it the time and consideration that it deserves and calls for. Mat is undoubtably my closest mate here on Flickr and if distance weren't an issue..... He is good, very very good!!! xxx
