Some of us simply see in frames. For those of us, photography is the only outlet. Even though a hobby, the art of capturing an image exactly how I see it is one of the most satisfying things I can do. I live with my family in Mayberry RFD (NIwot, Colorado). I shoot with a Canon 20D and a Canon 710IS, a point and shoot. ALL photographers should have a good point and shoot. The 710IS, by the way, is an amazing camera. The image stabilization makes a HUGE difference ... I have taken pictures at 1/3 second and have had them come out perfectly clear. The 710IS isn't quite a substitute for the 20D but it is damned close. For 99.9% of the population, a good point and shoot with IS is all they need (and all I need most of the time)!

Additional Comments: The pictures we take are a reflection of our personalities. Even though I love taking nature shots (and would like to have the time to do more of them), I am personally more intimate with my family and people - that's why you will see a lot more people shots than nature shots. I can almost tell something about people's personalities by looking at their photos on Flickr ...

More additional comments: Please, please, please don't hesitate to make critical comments about my work. I love hearing nice things but they don't help me improve. Thanks!

Yet more comments: People who love to take pictures are people who see great beauty in the world. I find gardeners are this way also. So many of these people, though, can't quite capture the beauty they see with a good photograph, some can. Sometimes I can, and sometimes I can't. For those of you who can't, keep trying, never give up. You will get it if you want it bad enough - look at pictures you like and try to figure out why you like them, read articles about composition (1/3 rule, etc.), and as you look through the lens, imagine what the picture will look like. Just as important, when you see something worth photographing, don't just take a snapshot - take MANY pictures of it from unique angles and "get into" the picture. Make the picture a project! curtisleejones@comcast.net

CurtisLeeJones has a good eye for colour, detail and framing in nature shots, but it is the photos of his family that really shine. These lovely models are captured with so much warmth and vitality that the viewer can't help but be caught up in the fun. When seen together, these joyful and loving photos create by the far the best record of a family I have ever seen. But even on their own they would stand up as portraits of an unusal charm and artistry.
