Hi there,
Pleased to make your acquaintance.
Four years ago I bought my first digital SLR camera as a sort of consolation prize for being dumped (it was a Canon 50D). As it turned out, photography is now one of my favourite hobbies, so I owe that boy some gratitude (some, let's not get carried away here...).
I mainly use Flickr to showcase my travel photography, and to gain inspiration and encouragement from other photographers.
I'm always trying to improve my skills in both photography technique and Photoshop, for which I've found the free lectures on www.CreativeLive.com to be quite helpful (well you can pay for them as well, but 'free' has a nicer ring to it).
My latest challenge is to photograph more people. Although, the last time I tried this I was repeatedly sworn at so I might at least steer clear of angry old Parisians for the time being...
Someone who was very good at photographing people (and probably didn't care about being sworn at) was Vivian Maier. A nice documentary was made about her recently - www.findingvivianmaier.com - it inspired me to take more photos, and possibly more risks. Check it out if you have the time/inclination.
Thanks for stopping by.
Juliet.
