Drag to set position!
I am a Second Life digital clothing designer of period clothing. Second Life is a virtual universe that has been in existence since about 2003. My store, Curious Seamstress, was started in fall of 2008, though I started making virtual clothing in 2007. I create digital clothing for use in this pixal world.
It is a passion for me to bring long gone Victorian, Edwardian, and 1920s clothing designers back to life for modern people. I base all my designs on existing gowns that can no longer be worn in the real world. Many over a hundred years old and in museum or private collections, they can be seen again in as much of their glory as I can reproduce in Second Life.
My greatest joy is seeing another avatar wear a gown that hasn't seen the light of day in a century! In this virtual world, those gowns swish and dazzle and awe again. Even more gratifiying for me is the love of these designers that is re-established in a new generation of women. The only drawback? So many gowns, so little time!
Now when I say Worth or Redfern, Peggy Hoyt or Jessie Franklin Turner to my customers, they know who I'm talking about. And if they don't, they soon learn!
So welcome to the world of the Curious Seamstress.
