I am just a guy who likes taking pictures...
I loved photography from a very young age. My favorite toy was a Kodak Instamatic 110. Most of the time there was no film in it, but I was shooting everything. On a school outing to Montebello, when I was in grade 3, a photographer took pictures all day. The next morning he brought an enlarger and made a dark room in a corner of the gym. There he processed a black and white picture of the Manoir Papineau. He took that exposed 8x10 sheet and placed it in the first bath. Magically the picture appeared. I was hooked.
I took a photography course at La Cite Collegiale, Graduated in 1992. The course was done with film. Since students don't have much money, we bulk loaded our film. We learned to compose the image right from the camera and learned proper exposure on slide film. If we shot 2 rolls of 36 exp. It was a good day. The bonus with digital photography is that it opens up our creativity.
Since then, I created the Facebook group called ‘The Ottawa Shutterbugs’. I just wanted to find new friends to go shooting with, now we are 2400 members. The best part of it, I made lifelong friends. We also do outings from walking downtown to spend time in NYC, Boston, Gaspe, Tadoussac just to mention a few.
