I'm a plant community ecologist and wildland fire fighter by training. Basically I like talking about how nature works and then trying to figure out how best to set it on fire.

Currently I work for The Nature Conservancy in Far West Texas (you get to West Texas and then you go west some more) as director of our preserve in the Davis Mountains.

I got my graduate degree in rangeland ecology from Texas A&M. I did my research on the interaction of long term drought, grazing intensity and topo-edaphic features on the ecological trajectory of herbaceous plant communities on the western Edwards Plateau- essentially what drives plants to form different groups that grow together.

Currently I'm working on the restoration of remnant ponderosa pine communities in the Davis Mountains and the reintroduction of fire into the mountains.
