Nowadays development challenges such as CCA and Food Security require multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholders action and a process of social learning for adaptive livelihoods. Communication for development (ComDev) approaches and methods play a key role in this context.
FAO and the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Territory jointly launched in 2008 a project named Communication for Sustainable Development Initiative (CSDI), to apply communication strategies and methods to Climate Change (CC), Food Security, and other relevant fields (such as sustainable Natural Resources Management and Disaster Risk Management).
CSDI strengthens and scales-up communication services in selected countries and makes available suitable methods and tools at the international level through knowledge networks and partnerships. The project is currently building partnerships and collaborations with institutions and development programmes, Universities, NGOs, community groups, grass root and Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, in order to build capacities in the field of Communication for Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Food Security.
