My name is Dawn and I am a keen photographer living in East Lancashire in the North West of England. I have always appreciated art and my passion for photography was born in January 2010. I bought my first DSLR camera after using a point and shoot digital camera for several years prior.

 

I enjoy photography, especially landscapes, macro, nature and abstract. Each day presents a new opportunity to develop my photography skill and experience. I have experience of various styles of photography and I strive to be an all-round photographer, with the confidence to produce images from a variety of genres. I mainly use Canon equipment, however I have a variety of makes and models of lenses.

 

In 2011 I successfully completed a Photo 52 (one theme per week project) which was a very interesting challenge during which I developed my photography knowledge and skills.

 

In 2014 I took on another project to complete a Photo-a-Day challenge, which I successfully completed. It was indeed a challenge at times, especially as there was a new theme each day and both my creativity and technical ability were stretched at times. Whilst completing the challenge I also took on additional photo projects too. It was a great year for developing my photography skills.

 

Some of my achievements:

- Invited to include and display my Curly Horned Sheep image at the Museum of Natural Science in North Carolina - a project about the spirals in nature.

- Produced photos for brochures, catalogues and business marketing materials

- First Prize landscape photography competition - 2010

- Compiled and facilitated photography workshop for local National Allotment Week 2013 project.

- Events photographer - Community Woodland project 2013

- First Prize - photography category Red Rose Recovery Arts and Culture Awards 2014

- Joint 3rd Prize - photography competition Friends of Bold Venture Park, Darwen - September 2015.
