OldJets are my specific passion, so this currently means visiting storage yards and hunting for preserved or derelict airliners...
Visited the main US sites like: Marana, Mojave, Roswell, Tucson, Davis-Monthan, Victorville, Goodyear, also less known/ visited like Blytheville, Brooksville, Greenwood, Lakeland, Maxton, Sanford, Stuttgart, Tupelo and the latest places like San Bernadino which takeover from classic storage places like Opa Locka. Never made it to Walnut Ridge which is no longer used as storage and processing site. Not to mention Ardmore, Amarillo, Shelton... which are gone for decades!
The Boeing 727 is my absolute favorite airliner as you can see from some of the remote places where i have been hunting down stored frames - mainly FedEx who have donated both the 727-100 and later the -200 series to tech schools all over the United States and even abroad. Despite having missed it's heydays and only observed the sunset of this aircraft in mainline service, am proud to say that i managed to see over 1000 Boeing 727s (of 1832 built)
As OldJets are slowly dying out, and while i keep myself busy hunting Airbus 320 family and Boeing 737 family, it is Bizjets that have taken a bigger part of my passion, Many vintage built Bizjets are still surviving well into the 2000s, 2010s and even 2020s with a good number of them still in service: early Learjets 24/25/35/36, Falcon 10/20s, Gulf 2 & Gulf 3 - even Cessna 500 are still around. Sabreliner and Jetstars becoming more and more scarce... but always fun to see those Classics. Bizjet storage and recycling sites are also becoming increasingly popular, and a visit to Bates City, MO in 2017 was one of the most memorable things i have ever done. Not to mention visiting Rantoul, KS in the same day - if only from outside.
Photo shows me standing in front of Boeing 727-109C c/n 20111 in RoCAF c/s at Hengshan in 2008.
Same day we visited Boeing 727-109 c/n 19520 of RoCAF at Taichung RCMQ - an absolute fabulous day!
