Texan by birth and the grace of God, reared in Amarillo and Shreveport, Louisiana. Educated at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi and Tulane University in New Orleans. Anthropology and archaeology were the focus of my education. Settled in New Orleans and produced 3 beautiful children and lived there longer than anywhere else. Circumstances have landed me in Maryland but I know what it means to miss New Orleans. I paint, I teach fencing at the Chesapeake Fencing Club, I take care of my "cute as a bug', blind and autistic son and my two lovely daughters. I collect swords, old cameras, bones, art and oddities. I'm a western martial arts enthusiast. I practice rapier, sabre and smallsword combat with the Mid-Atlantic Society for Historical Swordsmanship, MASHS, and occasionally with the SCA. I do freelance computer graphics. I produce digital character portraits for online roleplaying games. I prowl cemeteries, battlefields, historical sites and nieghborhoods and take pictures of anything that stays still long enough and some things that don't. Then I turn my warped aesthetic, sense of irony and bizarre imagination loose on them in Photoshop or Painter IX or both. Sometimes pushing well beyond where I should have stopped and share far to many of them with the public on Flickr or on my website, www.crowolf.net.

Jay is the true Elder Carny -- back in the days of dust and travel and mystery. He is part Dark and part Cooger in the Pandemonium Shadow Show. To me, he 'writes' history in his images, not fiction -- a history that might have, or should have, been [and somewhere was]. His futures that exist only in the past tend to linger ghostly and mesmerizing in the present. His images are his visions. They delight, amuse, inspire and haunt -- often at the same time. I'm happy they do all of those things. I hope you let him haunt you as well!
