He's got a deft touch with lighting and background, and even when his subjects are clearly posing, they don't look like posers, and they fit with their background. A lot of photographers put their subjects in "gritty" backgrounds to give their photos texture, but Tyler's subjects add warmth and life to their setting. They belong.
