I freelanced for years as an illustrator (mostly editorial stuff for magazines but quite a diverse output on top of that, covering a/v shows in places as far afield as Sentosa Island, Singapore, Colchester Museum in the UK; I've worked for Marvel Comics in the US, produced work for Barclays, the BBC, Future Publishing, Dennis Publishing – it's quite a long list…). I then worked in graphic design producing 3 different magazines in London, eventually reaching the hallowed status of Art Director. I became editor and also did some travel journalism – the free trip to Key West was incredible. I'm back to freelancing now after a couple of years in marketing and exhibition design. I was profiled in Computer Arts magazine years ago (been in it twice now actually). I'm a wizard with photoshop, pretty nifty with Indesign and Illustrator, and increasingly keen on photography again (thanks to this site mainly).
Stupid claim to fame? My face launched internet magazine .net (I put myself on the cover of issue 1 with wires sprouting out of my head - it had to be done). This was so long ago that I remember not knowing what desktop wallpaper was when a US company asked to use the image across all their monitors.
I have to add, that although I have favourite 'name' artists, photographers and designers, I've been more inspired by the work I've seen on here. Flickr's ace! Oh and since I'm new to this, excuse my apparent ignorance of how to handle people adding a picture or two as a fave. I'm genuinely thrilled but a little bit embarassed about saying thanks. And if I then go through your work it seems like I'm adding a fave just out of rote even if I've seen something that deserved it. Neurotic? Absolutely. I also thought adding a contact was just for people who were in business together too. Dumb. I'll catch up soon.
