Nick's photo stream is filled with amazing landscapes,waterfalls,hot air balloons ,macros,tulips and images from his home state of Oregon.His photo stream is a delight to view & so inspiring. But Nick is a wonderful contact to have,always commenting on my images with kind,encouraging words. In fact I had been looking at his photos for a while & faving & commenting but had not made him a contact. Seeing that he was a professional photographer had scared me off. Why would he be interested in my work. I really knew nothing about photography. I just took photos of things I loved.Before you knew it Nick had noticed that I was commenting on many of his images & he made me a contact. That is the kind of guy he is.Although he is a professional photographer,he is so down to earth. Some people do this for profit, some people do this for a challenge, some people shoot photography “just because they can”. Nick Boren Shoots because he loves it. That is what shines out to me. Nick, I wanted to write you a testimonial and as I was looking at all these people that you have touched, influenced, inspired, taught, befriended, helped….I could go on and on how you have affected us all. He (you) has so many talents that shine through that even if I tried, I don’t think I would have the adequate words to put it in the right perspective that I am trying to get on screen here. I just want to jump up and say…Heeeee’s Supercalafragilisticxbealadosious! (over and over again!) As for me, he has been a huge influence on how I look at my photos. (And yes, as he did with others…I know shoot in manual…which I had not before…THANK YOU TEACH!) Nick always has an encouraging word. This is a long overdue Thank You and and testament of what a great help and friend Nick is as well as a spectacular photographer! I was sitting on the bank of a creek tonight taking some shots,changing settings as the sun was also changing. I realized how quickly I was doing that and actually understanding what I was doing! I know that may sound silly but it made me think of Nick and how he ALWAYS was telling me to learn how to shoot in MANUAL! Nick was the first person I encountered in Flickr and if it wasn't for his help in teaching me how to use my camera and listening to my questions over and over and patiently answering them..I'd be sitting on that bank probably trying to figure out my settings still! Thanks to Nick I left "auto" alone..as much as I wanted SO much to use it...and shot in manual mode. So, Thank You Nick for reminding me all that time!!! I have learned SO much from you and will forever be in your debt...and next year I look forward to meeting you at the Tulip festival because I plan on going now that I know how to use my camera! I know I don't make it in here as much as I used to, but I always look you up first when I do to keep up with your fantastic work, I still continue to learn from you and I know I always will :-) Thanks again Nick! From his awesome landscapes to his stunning waterfalls and everything in between, each image makes you feel as if you are right there taking it all in. His Alaska series is simply breathtaking - you have to see it to believe it. My other favorite sets are the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm and Bodie, California. They are award winning! This my early Christmas present for you dear Nick :-) I consider myself very fortunate to have met Nick here for various reasons. Let´s take the most obvious one, the reason why we are all here on flickr: Photography. Nick is an excellent photographer, his pictures amaze and inspire me. Nature being his favorite subject, he puts immense thought in every single waterfall, sunset or landscape he captures. They are not just waterfalls, sunsets and landscapes but they all carry Nick´s fingerprint in a way that is unmistakably his. I always look forward to his postings because each of them shows how much of a passion being outside with his camera is for Nick. By the way, he is responsible for my starting to like feathered water effects ;-) But most of all I value Nick´s friendship, which has become a true enrichment in my life.
