A Somerset based photographer with an inordinate fondness for Wildlife on the Somerset Levels... and cake... ♥

An ID 'caveat '... size, location, colour, food plants and flight times etc for many species overlap, making them very difficult to nail down on the id front... All of my id's are based extensive web based research, and failing that, on the 'Walks Like a Duck' theory, which has served many an eminent scientist up until the invention of DNA and the chance discovery in 1590 of a thing called a 'microscope' in an old cardboard box somewhere in darkest Europe by some bloke called Zacharias Janssen.... if we are to believe what we read on the net... :@)

I had the real pleasure to meet Graham recently, after being invited down to Somerset for a weekend of Flickering around the somerset levels, with jump for Joy. (Joy Russell). His enthusiasm and love for all things in nature, is infectious. He has a considerable eye for detail, that to be frank, I didnt even know was there, half the time, and he has the latin names for all creatures memorised. His photography is excellent, and combined with patience, and the understanding of the subject, becomes exceptionnel . I remember the marvellous shots he took of a small mouse, that had made its home in his garden, 'Ikkle mouse'. The resulting close up shots of that tiny creature were a joy to behold. He gained the mouses trust, and in the end, was feeding it by hand, as well as taking superb shots. That, to me, is what photography is all about. Well done, my freind, for being a decent, kind hearted bloke, long may we be freinds, Bobbrooky
